Charter Review Commission Meeting
was held on this

with the following Commission
Members
present:

Braxton C. Rhone
Aaron D. Troyer
Mohamed J. Yasin
In Attendance:
Deputy County Attorney Andrea Fraser
Assistant County Manager Pete Winton
Call to Order & Pledge of Allegiance
The Chairman called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m., followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
Introduction of Commission Members:
Nine (9) Commission members provided brief introductions, and the following members were
absent: Noel E. Andress, Noelle Branning, Ismael Hernandez, Joseph Mazurkiewicz, Jr.,
Frederick D. Morgan, II, and Joanne E. Robertson.
Public Comment:
The Chairman called for public comment and there were two (2) speakers:
1. Estero resident
Adele Amico
discussed some of the advantages of single-member districts,
high campaign costs, and the importance of voter education.
2. Former Lee County Commissioner
Ray Judah
addressed the Commission stating his
opposition for single-member districts and briefly reviewed his reasons for opposition, stating
that he was in favor of non-partisan elections and election reform. Mr. Judah responded to
questions and comments by the Commission.
Commission Discussion:
Chairman Volz commented that there are two remaining public meeting with the final one
scheduled for August 27
th
, 2015 at East Lee County High School in Lehigh Acres. Discussion by
the Commission ensued scheduling the workshops following the final public meetings in August.
The next public meeting will be held at Mariner High School in Cape Coral on July 23, 2015 at
6:00 p.m.
Adjourn
:
Following brief procedural guidance by Deputy County Attorney Andrea Fraser, the Chairman
adjourned the meeting at 6:26 p.m.
