Chairman’s Comment
The Chairman provided a brief review of the Charter Review Commission noting that the Commission had been
going since March, 2015, which is almost a year now; with fifteen (15) Charter members having a number of
public meetings and presentations over that time. According to the County Charter which is sort of the
Constitution for the County; there should be three (3) public meetings within 21 days once there is a preliminary
vote as to what matters will go forward. On this there are two (2) matters of the following for discussion:
1) 12 votes of the 15-member
Board on any issue to bypass the County Commission to go directly on
the ballot. There is now a proposal to reduce the number to 10, which then will be sufficient to go
directly to the ballot.
2) Hybrid System:
a) 5 Single Member District
b) 2 Districts At-Large
